Photographing Jessica and Aidan’s maternity session felt like coming full circle in the sweetest way. I’ve known both of them since our school days, and Jessica and I are close friends. I even had the honour of photographing their engagement session back in 2012 when I was just starting out in photography. So to be asked to capture this next chapter in their journey - becoming parents for the very first time—meant the absolute world to me.
We had their session at the back of her parents’ property in Gympie at sunset, and the light did not disappoint. The golden glow bathed everything in warmth, and the love between these two just shone through in every frame. They brought along their sweet Labrador, Louie, who wore the cutest little blue and white polka dot bandana. He was very much part of the family moment and clearly excited to become a big fur-brother!
Jessica and Aidan brought a fluffy rug to sit on, and they cuddled up together with a photo of their baby’s ultrasound resting gently between them. There were so many playful kisses and soft little moments - so much joy and anticipation. It was peaceful, tender, and full of that magic that only comes from two people absolutely over the moon about the little life they’re about to meet.
After our session, Jessica left me the kindest review that truly made my heart swell:
“Hannah has photographed our engagement photos and more recently my maternity shoot. She is not only a close friend but extremely talented in her photography. Hannah’s speciality is capturing natural images in those special moments and she gives direction to help with the best ways to pose, and different things to try. She also has an eye for detail and works to capture individual personalities in the images she takes.
Having photos taken can be nerve-wracking and awkward, but both of our shoots have been fun and included plenty of giggles and fun, she even allowed us to include our fur baby and have input into different props and things we wanted to bring along.
Our images reflect us and our story and we are so thankful for the special memories captured by Hannah. We look forward to more photo opportunities in the future.”
Capturing these moments for friends I’ve grown up with is always such a privilege, and this session was filled with warmth, laughter, and so much love.
