Sidney and Kimberley’s engagement session took place at the beautiful Noosa Botanic Gardens in Cooroy - a stunning, serene location surrounded by lush greenery, tall trees, winding paths, and a peaceful Lake MacDonald. We’d all hoped for a classic sunny day, but instead we were met with soft drizzle and heavy clouds rolling overhead. But honestly? It made the whole thing feel even more romantic.
These two were such troopers - completely unbothered by the shifting weather, just soaking up their time together and smiling through it all. Kimberley looked beautiful in a dark blue floral wrap dress, her hair out and loose, and Sidney kept things simple and relaxed in a white tee and beige shorts. Both of them kicked off their shoes and went barefoot which felt so perfectly “them.” There was something really sweet and grounding about it, like they were totally at ease with each other and the world around them.
We ducked under trees when the drizzle picked up, wandered vine-covered walkways, and ended the session in the amphitheater by the lake as the overcast sky settled into a gentle grey. The trees were in bloom, the greens were deep and rich from the rain, and their joy lit everything up.
Sidney and Kimberley met while working up in Childers, starting as friends before falling in love not long after. They got engaged on Noosa Beach (not far from where we did this shoot!) — Sidney surprised Kimberley with a romantic picnic, champagne, music, and rose petals. Honestly, could it get more romantic?
When I asked them what they love most about each other, their answers were full of warmth and admiration. Sidney shared that Kimberley makes him laugh and supports him in every way, and Kimberley said she loves how romantic and kind Sidney is - how deeply he loves her and how well he treats her.
Together, they love snorkelling, swimming, beach adventures, and walking their dog - and I think all that laid-back, ocean-loving, joy-chasing energy really came through in their session.
It’s always extra special getting to photograph people I know personally, and being able to capture this chapter for my brother-in-law and his beautiful bride-to-be meant so much. Rain or shine, these two have something really special, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.
