Every now and then, something unfolds so naturally and beautifully that you can’t help but feel like it was always meant to be - even if you didn’t see it coming. That’s exactly how Ethan and Emma’s engagement session came together.
For years, our family has had a little tradition of heading up to Woodgate Beach during the Gympie Show weekend, renting a holiday house and enjoying some time together by the sea. This year, Emma joined us for the trip, and while I was under the impression it would be just another relaxing family getaway, Ethan had a little surprise in mind.
My husband and I arrived a little later than everyone else, and as I was lugging bags into our room and Emma was busy elsewhere, Ethan pulled me aside with a grin and quietly said, “I brought the ring.” I froze. What ring?! Turns out, he’d been planning to propose on this very trip - and, in a perfect twist of fate, I’d brought all my camera gear along without knowing a thing.
Early one peaceful morning, Ethan took Emma for a walk along the beach, and right there with the waves rolling in, he asked her to marry him. Of course, she said yes! The rest of us were buzzing with excitement all day, and that afternoon, we made our way back down to the shore to capture their engagement photos.
The beach was glowing with pastel tones, the sky streaked with the soft pinks and blues of fairy floss. It couldn’t have been more beautiful - the kind of sunset that feels like a gift. Ethan and Emma were completely themselves: affectionate, silly, full of laughter, and obviously so in love. There were tender moments and goofy ones, and I couldn’t stop smiling behind the camera.
What I love most about this session is how it came together with zero planning on my part - just the right people, the right place, and the perfect moment unfolding like it was always supposed to. Sometimes, God has a way of tying it all together better than we ever could.
Ethan and Emma, thank you for letting me be a part of such a special memory. I’ll never forget it.
